Putting Learning First(PLF)is a partnership which offers educational consultancy to primary schools in the areas of science and assessment. Based in the South East, PLF has been operating since 2000. about our consultant

Hellen Ward is primarily interested in teaching and learning, especially in the area of science and assessment. She is a well-respected and active member of both the Association for Science Education (ASE)and the Association for Achievement and Improvement through Assessment (AAIA). In her role in initial teacher training she works with LAs, Schools, organisations and companies. This work has led to a number of publications, interactive work for websites and articles on primary science education. Hellen is frequently asked to contribute to conference programmes by making presentations or running workshops. Her research interest is linked to pupils’ attitudes to science education. her latest publications can be found on the publications page

Recently PLF has undertaken conference work with the association of science education, a number of Local Authorities and schools. PLF have also been active in promoting thinking in science and have produced the 2007 item analysis disk to help primary schools analysis their Key stage 2 science results.
